Kaskade Receives DJ Times’ America’s Best DJ Award at Marquee
Kaskade has had himself one incredible month.
Not only did he successfully release his new album Atmosphere, he sold out Barclay’s center in Brooklyn, landed his second big residency in Vegas at XS Nightclub and this week he won DJ TIMES’ America’s Best DJ award.
On October 13th at Marquee nightclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Kaskade received his congratulatory plaque and gold plated mixer. Kaskade now has 2 fully functional gold plated mixers, having won the same award back in 2011. “I’ve used it for a show before!” he said inside Marquee’s Library room, after taking pics and FaceTiming with fans. “It 100 percent works.”
Being voted America’s Best DJ not only benefits Kaskade, but the award also shines a light on American DJs as a whole. The Electronic Dance Music genre is largely dominated by European beatmasters — Davis Gueatta, Tiesto, Calvin Harris etc.

Kaskade on The EDM Movement in America
“I have been one of these guys who has been very vocal about cultivating homegrown artists,” he said. “People, especially nowadays, think of electronic music and they think Stockholm, Amsterdam, whatever, and I’m like, man, we’ve been doing this for a long time, and there’s a lot of great talent right here in America.”
Even the location, Las Vegas, is paramount in reflecting the American DJ prowess. The Las Vegas strip has undoubtedly been ground zero for the emerging EDM movement.
Kaskade strategically focused his schedule here with a summer residency at Marquee which he plans to replicate in 2014.
